Sodomy in history,
April 4

1799Pennsylvania makes its sodomy law perpetual.
1939 — The Iowa Supreme Court upholds a sodomy conviction with an opinion giving no details other than that it "appears" that an indictment preceded the trial.
1973Montana passes a new criminal code and keeps sodomy as a felony, but makes the act criminal only between persons of the same sex. The maximum penalty is reduced from life to 10 years.
